This 8 weekly x 2 hour course will be held at The Meeting House, Abbey Walk, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 8BB with a Teacher-led day of silent practice (optional).

Course Fee: £185.00 (includes a pre-course confidential phone call and discussion for any questions before you start, and also includes teacher support throughout the course)

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course was originally developed in the late 1970’s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and is one of the most widely taught mindfulness programme’s in the world. It is an evidence based 8 week course that teaches participants new ways of responding to stress and difficulties in their lives. People who suffer from stress at work, family challenges, medical problems or general anxiety and depression may all benefit from the training this established course offers.

This practical course includes:

  • Guided instruction in Mindfulness formal meditation practices
  • Gentle stretching and Mindful movement practices
  • Inquiry exercises to enhance understanding and awareness in everyday life
  • 4 x Guided Audio/CD meditations for your home practice
  • Your own Mindfulness home practice workbook and hand-outs.

The 8 weekly sessions will cover:

Week 1: Recognising the Present Moment (introducing mindfulness)
Week 2: Handling Stress (creative responding)
Week 3: The Pleasure & Power of Being Present (living all your moments)
Week 4: The Shadow of Stress (how stress affects the body)
Week 5: Finding Space for Responding (rather than reacting)
Week 6: Working with Difficult Situations (interpersonal mindfulness)
Week 7: Cultivating Kindness to Self & Others (looking after yourself)
Week 8: A New Beginning (keeping mindfulness alive)

The weekly sessions can be enjoyable as well as challenging and home practice is an integral and essential part of this course. You will be encouraged to set aside 30 mins a day (5 days a week) to practice with the help of the guided Audio/CD and to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life.
