THE COURSE STRUCTURE: This practical 8 week course is perfect for beginners and offers an excellent introduction to mindfulness, which has been scientifically proven to help people deal more effectively with stress, anxiety and mental exhaustion. You will learn the simple core practices of formal and informal mindfulness meditation, which will help you to connect more fully with the body and diminish brain chatter.

We will cover…

  • Waking up to auto-pilot and learning how to come out of it.
  • Learning how to connect with the body and to cultivate a more embodied awareness with an attitude of curiosity and kindness.
  • Integrating mindfulness into your daily life through regular pausing and through bringing mindfulness to movement and walking.
  • Relating differently to thoughts and worries, practicing seeing thoughts as ‘just thoughts’.
  • Working with difficulties in life, learning how to relate to problems, uncomfortable sensations and unpleasant emotions.
  • Practicing kindness, bringing kindness back into your life – kindness not just for others, but for yourself aswell.
  • How to make good choices that will support and nourish your own well-being.
  • How to maintain a regular Mindfulness practice, so that you may gain continued access to the wide-ranging benefits well after the course has ended.

No previous experience of mindfulness is required.

Home practice is the key: to enable you to get the most out of the course, participants will be encouraged to practice the meditations at home, and in their daily life throughout the 8 week course. If you have to miss a session, you can catch up with an email summary of the session and/or a catch-up chat over the phone.

The Oxford Mindfulness Centre has been teaching the course from ‘Mindfulness-Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ to students at Oxford University and also to Corporate clients and MPs and Peers in Parliament for many years now.

Carol has trained to teach this course with Chris Cullen at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, and is delighted to offer this course to the public as a way of managing stress and promoting well-being in daily life.
